Internship: Office of Contracting and Procurement

While the MSBA program is demanding, it encourages and enables students to apply what is learned in the classroom to real life work projects and situations.  My work at the Office of Contracting and Procurement has thus taught me the importance of focusing not only on the output, but also the process of reflection and communication, and my individual development as a business professional. Strategic innovation and continuous learning must be the cornerstone strategy for any organization to survive and thrive in the business arena. While at OCP, I worked on the following projects:

-Developed and implemented a post-award compliance analysis and scoring system for Sole Source Contracts as part of the agency's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) remediation efforts.

-Engaged in strategic planning methods to clearly define project objectives, asses both internal and external situations, and formulate and implement strategies, evaluate progress, and make the necessary adjustments to stay on track and successfully complete projects.
 - Managed internal audit of several sole source and emergency District Government contracts for external auditor, and as a result, became familiar with contracts and associated rules, regulations and laws.
 - Assisted in planning for the spring and summer internship programs.
Designed and drafted marketing themes/campaigns for Procurement Leadership Program (PLP) for the summer of 2011.  Worked to expand the program to Columbia University and West Coast Universities via webcam technology.
